I just passed the CPCS exam in November 2009.  I wouldn't want to lead a study group, but I wouldn't mind sharing some insight on the materials I used to study.  Another KAMSS member told me about a study group on Yahoo.   The website is www.groups.yahoo.com.  There are MSCs from all over the United States who join this group.  It offers support as well as study material.  I used their study materials and Verify and Comply along with the materials I received from the CPCS Prep Course through NAMSS.  I did find it somewhat difficult to know what to study.  I spent a lot of time on the malpractice cases, and I only had two questions!  However, the next person may get a different mix and have more of those questions.  You just don't know.  So, I studied everything, and it served me well.  The best piece of advice I can give is to take the exam seriously, don't go by what you do in your everyday job, study the standards and go by what they say when giving your answers, and DON'T procrastinate.  I started studying about 8 months before my scheduled exam date.  This is not the kind of exam you can cram for.  Good Luck to all who are testing this year!

I think it would be great if someone would spearhead a study group.  I know two people who plan on taking the test this year or at least preparing this year.  Any certified person would more than qualify to conduct a group.  ANY VOLUNTEERS?

In the past, study groups have been formed.  The NAMSS also in the past has had study modules to assist in preparation for the exams.  They also offer sessions prior to their annual National Convention in the Fall (this year it is in Florida).    Hopefully, if there are others in KAMSS that are preparing for the exam, they will reply as well.
